Your First Step – A Free consultation

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s important to find the right counsellor for you. That’s why I offer an initial consultation over the phone or online. This is a chance for us to talk about why you are considering therapy, what you hope to gain, and whether my approach feels like a good fit for you.

There is no pressure or obligation—just a space for you to ask questions and get a sense of what working together might be like.

How I work – A collaborative approach

I believe therapy should be shaped around you. That’s why I practise pluralistic counselling, which means I adapt my approach to suit your individual needs, rather than following a one-size-fits-all method.

At its core, my work is person-centred—which means I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions safely. But I also integrate different techniques when they might be helpful, from traditional talking therapy to more creative or expressive methods, like sand tray therapy, outdoor therapy, or art-based approaches.

This doesn’t mean you have to engage with these methods—therapy is always a conversation, and we will work together to find the right way forward for you.

Therapy that fits your life – in person, online, or by phone

I understand that everyone has different needs when it comes to therapy, so I offer sessions in the way that works best for you.

Each format offers its own benefits, and you are welcome to switch between them depending on what suits you best.

In-Person (Amersham, Buckinghamshire)

A private, comfortable space where you can step away from daily distractions and focus entirely on yourself. My therapy room is secluded and peaceful, with easy access and private parking.

Online Therapy

Flexible and convenient, online sessions mean you can receive support from wherever you feel most comfortable, without the need to travel. This option can be particularly helpful if you have a busy schedule, mobility challenges, or prefer to be in a familiar space.

Telephone Therapy

Some people find it easier to talk without being face-to-face. Phone sessions allow for deep and focused conversations, providing the same support without the pressure of video.

The issues I support

Life can leave us feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected, sometimes without a clear reason why. You might be experiencing difficulties in relationships, struggling with self-worth, or carrying the weight of past experiences that still affect you today. Therapy is a space to explore these feelings, process them, and move towards a deeper understanding of yourself.

I have particular experience supporting people through:

Trauma & emotional abuse – Past experiences can shape how we see ourselves and our relationships. Therapy offers a safe space to begin untangling these wounds and rediscovering a sense of self that isn’t defined by what happened to you.

Family & relationship difficulties – Whether it’s unresolved tension, unspoken expectations, or past hurts, relationships—past and present—can have a profound impact on our well-being.

Bereavement & loss – Grief doesn’t follow a straight path. Whether your loss is recent or something you’ve carried for years, therapy can help you navigate this process with compassion.

Cultural identity & generational trauma – Having lived in different countries myself, I understand how cultural background, expectations, and belonging can influence our sense of self. Together, we can explore how these factors shape your experiences and relationships.

Whatever you are facing, you don’t have to go through it alone.

Outdoor therapy – Connecting with nature

For some people, traditional therapy settings can feel restrictive. I offer outdoor therapy as an option, where we can walk and talk in a natural environment, allowing space to reflect, breathe, and reconnect with yourself in a different way.

This can be particularly helpful for those who struggle to relax in a traditional setting or who feel more at ease when moving. If this is something that interests you, we can discuss how it might work for you.

FAQs

How do you know if I need counselling/psychotherapy?

Counselling sessions can help you to gain clarity on any issues, change old patterns, untangle complex personal issues, or embark on a journey of self-development. You may seek counselling as a result of a crisis, or you may be encouraged to seek counselling by family members, friends or colleagues.

What happens in a session?

I will provide a safe environment in which to explore your issues. You are free to discuss whatever you wish, from everyday events, dilemmas, feelings, and thoughts, to any regrets, aspirations, memories and dreams.

Who comes to counselling?

There is no barrier as to who can access counselling. I welcome you regardless of your culture, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

Are you the right person to help me?

By having an initial consultation, you will hopefully be able to answer this question. The relationship between counsellor and client is central to successful therapy so it is important that you feel comfortable with me so we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions last for 60 minutes. It is best for us to have a regular slot booked in each week for the duration of your sessions, but I appreciate that busy lives mean that this isn’t always possible. I will endeavour to be as flexible as I can. Evening and daytime appointments are available.

Will my sessions be confidential?

Yes, I adhere to the BACP code of ethics. I will not share information about you, other than in very exceptional circumstances such as if I was concerned about your or someone else’s safety.

I comply with data protection legislation and maintain the security of all client information.

Note that registered therapists are obliged to have a supervisor overseeing their work, to ensure they are maintaining a high level of assistance to their clients. While I might discuss the generalities of your case with my supervisor, I will not divulge your identity, and my supervisor is also under oath to protect the privacy of any information that is shared.

How much does it cost?

Each session costs £65, payable in advance of the session.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people only need a few sessions, especially if they have a particular problem that they want to focus on. Others need something more long term. As with the counselling itself, the number and timing of your sessions will be tailored to suit your needs.

What happens if I cannot attend?

I understand that there might be situations where you won’t be able to attend the session. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Missed or cancelled sessions will need to be paid in full if notice is received with less than 24hrs’ notice.
